Kerry Andrews 2nd Dan
Kerry began her training at Wantage Shotokan Karate Club under Sensei Paul Edwards 4th Dan in November 2000, at the age of 14. She struggled with shyness and self-confidence at school and decided to start karate as part of her Duke of Edinburgh Award.
Kerry's background is traditional Karate and she has some experience in competitions & sport karate, both competing and working behind the scenes with organisation, scoring and judging. While this is not her main focus, it has played an integral part in the progression of her training.
Kerry achieved her 1st Dan in May 2009 under the TSKA, and her 2nd Dan in May 2012, both whilst attending the TSKA Residential Weekend. It was at the 2009 Residential where she met Joe, she moved to Somerset in 2013 and continued her training with Joe and his Sensei in Wells.
She has been lucky enough to attend courses with great instructors including; Pete Manning, Andi Kidd, Aiden Trimble, Yoshinobu Ohta and Terry O’Neill.
Kerry is trained in Family First Aid, has an enhanced DBS certificate, an NSPCC Safeguarding certificate, and her 2nd Dan is recognised by NAKMAS.
